2 officers wounded in gunfire in Granbury
GRANBURY, Texas (AP) — Two law enforcement officers have been shot and a suspect killed following a pursuit that culminated with a shootout in the downtown square of a North Texas city.
Hood County Sheriff Roger Deeds says a county deputy and a Granbury officer were wounded late Friday morning and have been transported to hospitals.
A white van apparently involved in the violent exchange remained at the scene near the town square of Granbury, about 25 miles southwest of Fort Worth.
Witness Kent Whites told WFAA-TV that after the suspect was fatally shot by law enforcement, his body was covered by a sheet. An assault rifle, believed to have been used by the suspect, was recovered.
More than 35 shots were fired in the exchange.
