Alpha Gamma Delta holds 22nd annual picnic basket auction

Tarleton State University’s Panhellenic sorority Alpha Gamma Delta is hosting their annual picnic basket auction Wednesday, February 13, at 6:30 p.m. in the Tarleton Student Center ballrooms. “This is an annual event for us and will be our twenty-second,” said Alpha Gamma Delta member Alyssa Lowe .

The picnic basket auction is Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropy event. “All proceeds go towards the Alpha Gamma Delta foundation for juvenile diabetes research,” said Lowe.

The picnic basket auction works like a normal auction. Each basket has its own theme with a variety of items in it and is given to the highest bidder. “We have baskets ranging from all different kind of themes, from fishing, to Larry Joe Taylor, movie night, and the basket I know I am going to be bidding on is the Billy Bob’s basket,” said Lowe. She says around 100 baskets being auctioned off.

Lowe says that since this is the 22nd annual event, many alumni are getting involved. Alumni will be bidding on baskets at the event, and this year’s auctioneer is even an alumni.
