Audit of Sheriff Tommy Bryant’s office is finally released

Erath County Commissioners met at the Courthouse today to address the internal audit of Sheriff Tommy Bryant’s office.

The audit was released by County Auditor Janet Martin. It includes findings of improper preparation of jail food, as well as allegations of supervisors being intoxicated, watching movies and sleeping while on duty.

Another finding reads, “No accountability for the money received or expended,” under the “Narcotic Buy Money” section of the audit.

Sheriff Tommy Bryant died on December 20, 2016. The autopsy report found that he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.
