UPDATE: Texas Forts Trail Wine Festival is $35 to participate and includes two tastings per winery, cheese pairings and a swag bag with a souvenir wine glass.

After being canceled last summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Moo-La Fest is back for a weekend of vibrant colors, music, food and fun. The festival is being held this weekend Thursday, June 3 through Sunday, June 6 at Stephenville City Park. The festival is free to the public and has many activities for people to enjoy, including a carnival, hot air balloons, live music, dairy activities, a fun run and more.

Since June is National Dairy Month, Stephenville started the Moo-La Fest as a tribute to the generations of dairy farmers and their contributions to the community as well as to inform people about the dairy industry and bring a fun event to the area that the whole family can enjoy.

According to the visit Stephenville website, “Moo-La Fest is a salute to our country’s rich dairy heritage and features fun for the whole family.”  

The festival will kick off Thursday at 6 p.m. with Carnival Americana and will continue till 10 p.m.

The first concert of the weekend, featuring Scott Kirby and Davin James opening for Asleep at the Wheel, will begin at 8 p.m. at the Birdsong Amphitheater. In addition to the concerts, the hot air balloon glow event will start at 8 p.m. and end at 9 p.m.

Friday, Michael Hix will kick off the evening at 4 p.m. along with the carnival, many vendors, grub zone and beer sales. Lank and The Shanks will take over for Hix at 6 p.m. and then Phil Collins will be on stage at 8:30 p.m. Other events Friday evening includes Pinspiration and another hot air balloon glow-in-the-dark event.

Come early Saturday morning at 6 a.m. to watch the hot air balloons fly in and land at the park. After that at 8 a.m., the Udderly Epic Fun Run will begin. The carnival, vendors, grub zone and Texas State Historical Association will open at 10 a.m. and close down at 11 p.m. The dairy area, Cross Timbers Fine Arts Council and Texas Forts Trail Wine Festival will open at 11 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.

“The dairy area is a bunch of little, different dairy activities… I know we’re going to have the Volleman’s Dairy there selling their milk… It is gonna be an almost informative area with stuff to do with dairy and cows,” Sydnee Benton, an employee at Stephenville Parks and Rec, said.

Holli Garet will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday, The Decades Band will follow at 4 p.m., Party Machine will then go at 6 p.m., Elton Dan and Gypsies and Dove and Dreams will be the last to begin at 8:30 p.m.

Pinspiration will hold another event at 6 p.m. and there will be another hot air balloon glow in the dark event at 8 p.m.

Concluding the festival on Sunday is one more day of the carnival from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
