Liveblog: Erath County Press Conference-Chris Kyle – 02/03/13

Good afternoon, this is Ashton Hamilton live at the Erath County sheriffs department for the press conference pertaining to the Chris Kyle murder.

The suspect Eddie Ray Routh left the scene if the crime in Kyle’s vehicle.

The defendant drove to his residence and confesses to his sister. At that time, she called the Lancaster police.

Defendant was arraigned this morning, charged with Capitol murder along with two other murder charges. He’s been arraigned with a $3 million dollar bond.

At this time, there’s no clear reason why these murders occurred. PTSD is a possibility.

Littlefield, the other victim, and Kyle were acquaintances.

The shooting did occur at the gun range, at Rough Creek Lodge, but no other witnesses were there.

Routh, the defendant, was born in 1987 and unemployed. He had been in the marines for 4 years.

Routh was interviewed last night by Texas Rangers.

No prior arrests besides a DWI in Cleburne, Texas, was on the defendants record.

“The assumption is that the victims were shot at close range, more than one times,” Erath County sheriff department.

The diagnosis of PTSD has not been confirmed.

Routh’s brother-in-law and sister contacted their local sherif department and the sherif department in returned contacted Erath County.

“Less than 24 hrs, under the first report of this incident, there is a lot of speculation … And we can’t tell you exactly when a court hearing will be set.” Erath County district attorney Alan Nash.

“Routh is in segregation and under suicide watch,” Erath County Sheriff Tommy Bryant said.

Routh’s vehicle was spiked while being arrested in Lancaster.

No other news conferences are planned to be held at this point.
