Meet the staff- Mekenzie Garza

Senior staff member, Mekenzie Garza, serves as the managing editor for Texan News Service. Garza has always possessed a passion for writing. She even created her own website and blog her sophomore year of college. With a craving for storytelling, she decided to apply to work at TNS.

            In her spare time, Garza enjoys writing of course, along with spending time with her family. Her family, who is keen on traditions, took notice of the campus full of traditions on her tour in January of 2016. Mekenzie felt right at home and decided to further her education career at Tarleton.

            Garza joined the TNS staff in August of 2018. She once covered a story over Caam’s restaurant when the building phase was close to complete. This story which brought the new restaurant to life ended up being one of her favorite pieces of work throughout her time with TNS. The opportunity to build relationships with not only Tarleton, but the Stephenville community through TNS is something she cherishes. She feels TNS  put her in a great position going into her future career. She has received many internship opportunities with news stations in Abilene, Kentucky, and even Colorado. She expressed that these opportunities would not have been feasible without her experience at Texan News Service.
