On Nov. 20, Mu Phi Epsilon will host their first talent show at 7 p.m. in the Barry B. Thompson Student Center Room 27 as a fundraiser for their chapter.
Detailing the chapter’s reason for creating the talent show, Mu Phi Epsilon President Julia Pace said, “We were wanting to host an event that was available to all students since we do not normally participate in events outside of the music department. This is our first attempt to branch out of the Fine Art Building and make connections with other students, organizations, faculty and staff. We have had a great time interacting with students and organizations and look forward to participating in more Tarleton events.”
This talent show comes during a time of recovery after COVID-19 negatively impacted the normal functions of Mu Phi Epsilon.
Pace said, “When COVID happened, all music events had to stop. We could not have recitals, host receptions after concerts, go caroling or do any of our music events. This is our first music-related event that we have been able to do since COVID started, and we are very excited to make music with Tarleton students.”
Each act that wishes to compete in the talent show must pay a $5 entrance fee until Nov. 15. Admission will be free to all audience members
When asked what will be expected during the show, Pace said, “We are expecting to have around ten acts. Some of the talents include singing, playing instruments, comedy and dancing.”
In addition, there will be giveaway opportunities for a photo shoot with Brandon Hogan as well as Tarleton merchandise. Concessions will include water, popcorn and sodas.
Guest judges include Dr. Jordan Barkley, Dr. Troy Robertson and Dr. Sherri Benn. Hogan will be the master of ceremonies for the event.
