Independence Day is just around the corner, and the City of Stephenville has planned a series of local events to celebrate.

“Stephenville City Park will hold events and activities all day on July 4th. There will be the parade, food vendors, lawnmower races, live music and a fireworks show,” Tourism & Visitors Bureau Manager Michaela Bierman said.

The Stephenville Parks & Recreation Department (SPARD) has coordinated a parade, beginning at 9 a.m on July Fourth.

Parade floats and participants will begin their route at the City Park, then turn left on Graham Street. After making another left on Washington street, the parade will end at Harbin Street.

All American Fourth of July festivities will run in the City Park, including the Washer Tournament, Tailgate Cook-Off, food vendors and more.

Lawn mower races commence at 2 p.m. Registration opens at 12 p.m., and practices will be at 1 p.m.

“Lawnmower races will be held from 12 – 3PM – registration is free, but all participants must wear a helmet during competition,” Recreation Coordinator of Parks and Recreation Houston Folmar said.

Families can enjoy Mr. P’s Party Rentals inflatables from 4-9 p.m. Inflatables include a 60-foot obstacle course, toddler bounce house, jousting ring and bungee run.

The Texstar Ford Summer Concert will feature Courtney Patton, Larry Joe Taylor and Lee Roy Parnell beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Closing out the day’s celebrations, a fireworks show will begin at 10 p.m. in the City Park.

“I think this event provides an opportunity for those to celebrate Independence Day with not only your family, but with the community we know and love,” Bierman said.
