On Saturday, April 17, Tarleton State University alumni Samantha Eberhart will be hosting the grand opening for her snow cone stand, The Snow Shack, at 103 East Navarro Ave. in De Leon, Texas. The grand opening will begin at 1 p.m. and will remain open until 7 p.m. The event will have popcorn, treats and half-price snow cones for everyone to enjoy.
In an interview with Eberhart, Texas News had the opportunity to talk about how the snow cone stand became possible and what Eberhart hoped to do with her new venture.
Eberhart graduated from Tarleton in 2009 with her bachelor’s degree in animal science and then completed her Master of Science in 2010. She currently works as a third-grade teacher at De Leon Elementary school in De Leon and has two sons, Tatum and Gunner.
When asked when she had the idea to do the snow cone stand, Eberhart said, “I wanted to do it for several years and happened to find one for sale and decided to do it. I always thought about it, but it never happened [until now].”
Eberhart also said she is excited to get to see her students throughout the summer while running the snow cone stand and meeting future students.
In the future, Eberhart plans to travel to various events in both De Leon and the surrounding area.
The snow cone stand will have small snow cones for $2.50, medium ones for $3 and large ones for $3.50. There will also be a variety of flavors that customers can choose from along with fun additions like sour syrup and cream syrup for example. Then, after the purchase of ten snow cones from The Snow Shack, the eleventh snow cone will be free.
