This week, in honor of Valentine’s Day, the Dick Smith Library at Tarleton State University is hosting Library Lovers Week.

Every February, libraries across the nation come together to celebrate Library Lovers Week. The Tarleton library is distributing specially marked buttons and candy kisses. There are also themed displays as well as opportunities for students to share reasons on why they love the library.

The Coordinator for Access Services, Kim Schow, explained why this year is special.

“This year, since we’re celebrating the 100th year since joining the Texas A&M University System, we also made 100 keychains on our 3-D printers and have dropped them around the library for students to find,” Schow said.

Every year, a new button design is created and is distributed with Hershey Kisses for the students to pick up at the service desks in the library.

Students can also comment reasons why they love the library.

“We also love hearing feedback from our community, so we always leave out post-its for people to share why they love libraries.” Schow said.

The library staff encourages all students and users of the library to drop by and celebrate a century of being a part of the Texas A&M University System.
