Yoga opportunities in Stephenville and the surrounding area

There are a variety of different yoga opportunities taking place in Stephenville and the surrounding area this summer for people of all ages, skill levels and budgets to enjoy.

There will be free or donation-based yoga classes at Stephenville City Park on June 29 at 7 p.m., July 13 at 7 p.m. and July 22 at 9 a.m. No sign-ups are required to attend, and participants will meet at the red brick gazebo near the low water crossing at the City Park.

Fire Flow yoga is offering nonheated classes Friday mornings the entire month of June at 9 a.m. as well as Fridays at 9 a.m. July 16 and July 23. The sessions will be held at Fire Flow Yoga Studio at 151 Belknap in Stephenville. The cost of each session is $10 and no sign-up is required to attend.

Sup Yoga in Glen Rose is offering special classes June 5 at 10 a.m., June 11 at 7 p.m., July 9 at 7 p.m. and August 14 at 9 a.m. at Wheeler Branch Lake.

According to their Facebook event page https://www.facebook.com/events/301683418332520?ref=newsfeed, “Paddle Board Yoga is the art of performing yoga while on a Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) usually while the board is in calm water, such as a lake or river. The sport combines hatha yoga and vinyasa yoga asanas, or poses, with paddleboarding.”

 Go to https://tandaadventureoutfitters.com/yoga sign up. The cost to attend is $45 which includes the board rental as well as the class itself. The class will be about an hour and includes15-20 minutes of paddling and around 40 minutes of yoga instruction.

According to their website, “Anyone 10 and up is welcome to attend, but parents need to keep in mind that all minors under the age of 18 must attend with a parent or guardian.”

Participants are encouraged to wear clothing suitable for being in or on the water and bring something to stay hydrated as well as a towel and dry clothing for after the session.

The Greatest of All Time Ranch is offering goat yoga located at 1839 Highway 144 South Box 1163 in Glen Rose.

According to their website, ” [Goat Yoga] is what it sounds like….yoga with baby goats! We have an amazing yoga instructor that leads a soft yoga session in a pen full of baby goats.”

Sessions will be $25 and will be around 40 minutes long, the entire experience is about an hour after going to the goat barn, setting up, etc. Participants will need to sign up at www.thegreatestofalltimeranch.com and select the date they wish to attend. Group dates are July 3 at 9:30 a.m., July 18 at 10 a.m., Aug. 15 at 10 a.m., Aug. 21 at 9: 30 a.m. and Sept.4 at 9:30 a.m. Private sessions are available.

There will be snacks available for purchase, but participants will need to bring their own yoga mat, blocks, workout clothes, tennis shoes and a towel. It is important to note that the goats might take a nibble at your cloths though so wear something you are comfortable with.
