The Texan News Service executive staff met with Tarleton State University President Dr. James Hurley in an exclusive interview Tuesday Nov. 28.
President Hurley sat down with the executive team to talk about the Texan News Service and the future of Tarleton. He spoke about the future of the institution and what the projected numbers are for our growing campus.
“In 2020, we did a strategic plan in which we felt like the institution would hit 30,000 students somewhere between 2030 and 2032,” President Hurley said. “And that growth would be distributed very differently.”
President Hurley emphasized the growth of the main campus here in Stephenville and the other Tarleton campuses.
“We have a fast growing main campus here,” President Hurley said. “Then you’ve got anywhere from 6,000 to 8,000 at your Fort Worth Campus, because it’s growing and we are investing there as well.”
President Hurley accredited the growing main Tarleton campus to the different campuses across the state and the relationships with different community colleges.
Before the interview, the staff arrived to a warm welcome from the president by getting the official tour of his presidential office.
President Hurley offered his hospitality by showing the staff his collection of Tarleton collectables. He first showed his collection of TTS and TTP purple pigs.
A collectable that each Purple Poo makes when they become alumni. He then showed the staff his other personal collectables like artwork and his custom made spurs.
President Hurley mentioned a possible exclusive sit down interview in the near future with the TNS.
On behalf of the Texan News Service, thank you President Hurley for your generous hospitality from you personally and your wonderful staff.
