It is never too late to find love and rewrite your story.

Josh Boone’s movie “Regretting You” is a representation of that: loss, love, but never regret.

Originally a book by Colleen Hoover, the movie follows the lives of mother-daughter duo Morgan and Clara Grant. After their husband and father, Chris, and sister and aunt, Jenny, die in a car accident, they navigate loss and love.

Morgan reconnects with her old friend Jonah, who had always secretly loved her. Jonah reenters Morgan’s life after rekindling his relationship with his high school girlfriend, Morgan’s sister Jenny. When Morgan and Jonah discover that Chris and Jenny were having an affair, their worlds are turned upside down. The betrayal, however, ultimately brings them closer together as they rekindle their old love while learning how to honor the memory of those they lost.

Clara Grant is in the midst of grieving her dad and aunt while being left in the dark on the affair. Through the darkness, Clara finds light in Miller Adams, her long-term crush from school; however, the truth about her dad and aunt may cause her to push Miller away.

This movie brings a serious and dark topic to life, yet it is still light-hearted and sentimental. The film has several funny moments, most notably the marijuana scene where Clara gets caught smoking weed with Miller after running away from her father’s funeral, which had the whole theater giggling.

This movie was more of a traditional romance film, which was nice to see amongst all the other rom-coms and adventure films. The film has its share of ups and downs, but through thick and thin, the characters remain deep and lovable, especially Miller, who has set the standards of men through the roof, according to fans of the book and now movie.

When watching the movie at Cinema Six, I expected to see a predominantly young female audience; however, I was surprised to find a mix of different genders and ages waiting to see the movie. This movie truly represents how love can bring people together.

This movie features a notable cast, including Allison Williams as Morgan Grant, McKenna Grace as Claira Grant and Dave Franco as Jonah Sullivan. The cast was one of the reasons so many people came to watch the film, mainly due to the off-screen romance between McKenna Grace and Mason Thames, who plays Miller Adams.

This film is excellent for anyone looking for a heartfelt and genuine romance that showcases the perspective of young love and reconnecting with old love.
