Sweaters are being replaced with tank tops and tennis shoes with flip flops to welcome the warm Texas spring weather.

After being cooped up inside all winter, you may be eager to spend more time outside.

Here are a couple of activities to do and places to go in Stephenville to enjoy this warm weather.

Tarleton Aquatics Center

A favorite for many, the Aquatics Center is normally bustling with activity as it is the ideal place to spend time outdoors.

The Aquatics Center contains an indoor and outdoor pool area.

The outside pool contains covered cabanas, lounge chairs in and out of the water and a volleyball and basketball net.

The outdoor pool does have a maximum limit of people who can lay out and swim due to limited lifeguards on duty, so make sure to get there when they first open to get a spot.

If you are looking to get that summer tan or simply cool off from the heat, the Aquatics Center located on the Tarleton State University Campus is the perfect place for you.

For more information, you can visit their homepage here: https://www.tarleton.edu/campusrec/aquatics/

Sand volleyball courts

Another popular area perfect for competitive or group engagement are the sand volleyball courts located behind the Aquatics Center.

The sand volleyball courts have three separate pits for multiple games at once.

These courts are often busy year-round.

Outdoor pursuits

Outdoor pursuits is the hidden gem of outdoor recreation available at Tarleton.

It includes four separate activity categories: adventure trips, the challenge course, the climbing wall and the checkout center.

All of the categories involve outdoor ventures except for the climbing wall, which can be found inside the recreation center.

The climbing wall ranges in difficulty and reaches 35 feet in height.

At the checkout center, students are able to pick up outdoor equipment for camping, backpacking and much more.

For those interested in heights and adrenaline rushes, the challenge course, with its safe obstacle courses run by trained facilitators, is perfect.

The adventure trips vary in the amount of time spent outdoors and are led by knowledgeable group leaders, offering students the chance to enjoy the fresh air and natural environment.

You can visit Outdoor Pursuit’s webpage for further information: https://www.tarleton.edu/campusrec/outdoor-pursuits/

Stephenville City Park

If you are looking for something to do outside that is off the Tarleton campus, then the Stephenville City Park is the ideal spot for you.

The available amenities at the Stephenville City Park include a baseball diamond, basketball court, disc golf, jogging track, playgrounds, sidewalk, skate park, Splashville and tennis courts.

The city park is also the start of the Bosque River Trail, a concrete path that weaves through Stephenville for 2.5 miles with a loop at the end to turn around. The trail is perfect for people who love to get some fresh air while moving their body, whether they take advantage of the full five miles or start anywhere in the middle.

The park has everything you need to spend the day outside alone or with your peers.

In the springtime sunshine, make sure you take a break and spend some time outdoors.

 Happy spring, Texans.
