Having a good study spot is crucial for students to get their work done. So, after doing some digging and contemplating, some of the most ideal study spots have been determined.
Everyone has different opinions when it comes to the best places to get work done. Some students like to sit outside and have fresh air, while others may like to be indoors in a quiet room. Whatever you prefer, Tarleton has a place for you.
When asked what makes a good study spot for students, everyone agrees on one thing: They want a quiet place to study and do homework. Loud noises, like people talking with friends or watching videos, can be a distraction and make it hard to retain information.
Several students have found that the Dick Smith Library is one of the best places to study. They have tables and benches outside, access to desktop laptops, study rooms and even a few printers.
Senior Josselyn Tristan specifically likes the study rooms because they have TVs, which are great for her major.
“The study rooms in the library have TVs, which are good for me to put my slides on for my major,” Tristan said.
The study rooms provide a quiet place for Tristan to get her work done, and they have resources that help her study.
Senior Pamela Zubieta added that the study rooms are nice because you are also able to work with the people you need to work with without interruptions.
“The library study rooms are my favorite place to study because they are quiet and you are able to collaborate with the people you need to,” Zubieta said.
The library also has quiet zones for when you don’t want to be in a study room but still want to work in a quiet environment.
“I like the library’s quiet zones and the study rooms are nice, too,” senior Maggie Nunez said.
If you would like to reserve a study room in the library, you can do it online through the Tarleton LibCal System, or you can call the Circulation Desk at (254) 968-9450.
Making reservations is important in order to get a spot because they do fill up fast.
Overall, students have found that the library is one of the best places to study because it caters to everyone’s needs. It has places to sit outside and inside, areas for students to work with their friends, quiet zones and study rooms, which are great for studying for important exams.
So, grab a couple of friends or venture out solo and check out the Dick Smith Library. It’s many students' favorite study spot, and it could become your favorite, too.
